If anyone knows...

What kind of influence does Mr. Valin have at TAS? I have read his negative comments from show reports relative to the Continuum table that Michael Fremer enjoys. I understand that TAS, or various writers of that magazine, unsuccessfully attempted to obtain a review sample. I presumed that his negative comments from an audition at a show, in an unfamiliar system, in an unfamiliar room, were motivated by sour grapes. And now, apparently, Ayre is on the list.

I would think that the days in which a magazine allowed a writer to negatively effect a magazine's credibility would be at an end. Maybe in the old days a writer could take his toys and go to the next sandbox if the magazine fired him, but, today where would JV write about audio if not TAS, at least on a paying basis? Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't believe that TAS would lose many subscribers if they fired JV.

Which leads back to my original question. Why not fire him to preserve their credibility?
