Re: The tests showed a positive result. Why continue to whine about it?

Well, this was a fairly large scale test run by Stereophile comparing a VTL tube amplifier and an Adcom SS amplifier. Link is below--it was given farther up the thread, too. bjh wants to use all the results totaled, whereas I want to consider the results with the program material on which the listeners did best. As the authors point out, some of the program material works better--and they did best on choral music (I always include mixed chorus in my audition material, myself!).

Anyway, Table 4 is on page 4, and on page 6, we find the impedance vs. frequency curve of the speakers and the differences in FR between the two amps measured at the speaker terminals--which do indicate an audible difference (no surprise there, BTW).

There is an old article in Stereo Review by E. Brad Meyer which shows why the amps with the high output impedance would sound somewhat different:
