I took it in another direction.

I stated it exactly how it was intended. The example was an IC with and without the shield grounded. Noise and grunge can objectively get in and affect the signal. Duh! How did you subjectively interpret it bjh? My mentioning the battery was due to the claims made by the manufacturers. I'd hedge a bet that no one here, reviewer or audio geek alike, can tell if the battery is connected or not. Objectively, when a battery is in a circuit and the circuit is not complete, what is it doing? Only the most extreme nutto subjectivist can rationalize how that kind of a configuration can possibly improve the sound. As if cryogenicly treating an AC input cable is really going to affect the sound of a component. A choke input on the other hand...

A buddy of mone was shopping for a 52" plasma screen. I was told that for my 1200 $$$ that the cable I was looking at would improve the sound of my system. Sadly for the sales guy, my rig kicked that system's ass as it stood, and for 20 K less. Not subjectively, I might add. My buddy's girlfriend, who was there, said so. Not trained by those who rule us, so her opinion may not be valid. I had just gone active tri and for my tweeters I only had a Radio Shack el cheapo 35 foot run available until I could make up a more proper cable. BTWE, for a 35 foot run, would I have to have three of those AAA batteries in a series, not connected configuration, in order to drive the non circuit?
