Where did I say that people are liars?

I said that I believe that they are hearing what they say they hear. However, I do not believe that what they hear is real, except to them. Ever heard of the Franssen effect?

Re: poorly designed music playback

Note: what I have stated or what I will state does not, by no means, represent an absolute truth. From my point of view, which is, and I shall repeat myself, that playback gear has to be accurate (hifi, you know), most speakers, high-end or not, are poorly designed simply because they are not as accurate as is possible using available technology. From other peoples' point of view, which may consist in "achieving the sound that they want" they are not poorly designed.

Re: use of exotic woods, metals, toobs

Until there has been established certainty by performing controlled listening tests, I think that such materials are pretty much useless. But, like always, it depends: I perfectly understand why a cartridge manufacturer uses Beryllium instead of aluminium for the cantilever. I would not understand why a manufacturer would use beryllium instead of aluminium for the housing of a power amp.

Toobs IMO are obsolete technology in audio playback, if you like it, fair enough. Maybe you also like driving a Ford Model T.
