you would think that we disagree on many things. But I've always basically agreed with your assessments of audio equipment and your taste in music. That's why I was actually looking forward to your review of the chip. I've said this before: Clark Johnson is playing with people, and it's funny what he's doing, so I don't take him all that seriously. But you and John Curl - I respect both of your opinions. John is one of the most talented designers around right now, and as I said above, I basically agree with your opinion.Of course, in your review, you said that maybe it was somehow the power of suggestion, which is about a million times more honest than any other supporter of the chip has had the guts to say.
I'm reminded of a few years back when the wife and I went to an audio show. She hates those things, but I promised her dinner at her favorite restaurant afterwards if she went with me. What we saw there was an exact "replication" of HP's home system with no expense spared. It had been duplicated down to the last nut and bolt. My wife and I walked up to it and she gave me one of those looks that only a long-time married couple can do - and I gave her the same look back. The people who put the system together (who shall remain nameless) have now (in the last year or two) said, oh, it was the wrong interconnect or the wrong power conditioner, but at the time, there was a lot of chest puffing and gloating and smiling from ear to ear, saying 'isn't this the greatest stereo system you have ever heard in your entire life?' Tons of people agreed with that assessment.
That night at the restaurant, my wife said to me 'if you ever take me to one of those ear-bleeding shows again, I will leave you.'
What I'm trying to say here is (and it might go along with what you said) - maybe it is some kind of power of suggestion, but then again, I trust your ears and John Curl's ears a lot, and I never thought you'd be taken in by the chip, so I just don't know what to make of this.
