"This equipment is aimed at the roughly one million audiophiles world wide. This small segment of buyers is enough to keep small niche companies in good shape....."Why do mags and manufacturers complain about the masses buying crap instead of quality hifi products made by the niche companies you speak of, and imply that the hifi biz is in trouble if you're reaching the market you're "aiming" at? If manufacturers like Ayre are concerned that their current customer base may dwindle, or they desire a larger slice of the pie through increasing the % of the overall market who become at least semi-educated "audiophiles" (who appreciate and buy the niche company products), then look to the hifi industry's marketing/advertising ineptitude and pricing.
