Here's one for the books...

A friend sent me an email. He said another audiophile friend of his called him and said he tried two discs with the chip and it didn't work, and would this friend like to buy his chip at a discount to see how he liked it before buying a "full" chip. He treated a bunch of CDs, heard a tremendous difference, called or emailed a dozen friends, said he had been dubious, but once he tried it, the difference was like night and day. He said we're all crazy to think it can't work. Then he called the guy he bought it from to crow. He said to him, I can't understand how you tried it twice and couldn't hear a difference. His friend replied, 'tried it twice?' I tried it a hundred times! It was empty (if there is such a thing). Come over and I'll give you your money back. I was just trying to prove a point. When I heard no difference, I figured that you - being the most treaky of my friends - I'd try a little test with you. My friend is shattered, having lost all credibility. This would be hilarious, if it weren't sad.
