If I am reading the original post correctly, it would appear that the 'criteria' for a 'five star' review is either SACD or 'MQA'.
And yes, as the editors of Stereophile seemed, at least at one point, literally 'head over heals' for MQA, that's an issue.
As is a 'less than stellar' review of a piece of equipment lacking 'ROON Readyness' or even a non-DSD DAC.
OK, maybe a pass on the non-DSD DAC as DSD, to my understanding at least, is not a proprietary feature.
