Hi May

"In the period immediately prior to you losing your enjoyment of classical music did you do anything in, or did you introduce anything into your environment ? Or did anyone else do anything in or introduce anything into your environment ? In you thinking about it, I would however ask that you don't dismiss something, out of hand, just because you have presumed that ‘it' (whatever) could not possibly have had any adverse effect on your sound."

No nothing has changed with equipment or furniture between those two days, However the disenchantment will classical music actually started five years ago when I no longer liked most symphonies and concertos and instead preferred what I call program music. Then in the last year I no longer could listen to any classical music that had any singing in it and then slowly I found I didn't like more and more composers, the sharp cut off was from the remaining orchestral works that I liked before that day. It was not just classical but all orchestral music that fell out of my favor as I later discovered during the next four months after that day.

On the up side my Rock and Jazz audiophile recordings sound as great and enjoyable as they ever have.

"You say you ‘cringe’ now when you listen to classical music."

Because it now sounds boring and I am now too impatient to make it to the climax, which is the part I liked best anyway. Problem is while classical often has good rhythm, it is usually lacking in beat. And most classical music either doesn't make enough use of percussion instruments and some that do still have long sections of music with no percussion. About the only music I like with no percussion is folk music and some bluegrass, although I prefer bluegrass with drums.

Oh, and I love great singers in jazz, rock and world music, but never could stand the style of singing in classical, broadway and show-tunes. I used to tolerate choruses in orchestral works as long as were not too long and the majority of the work was instrumental.
