I was just agreeing with the poster

that a decent editor would be very useful. In terms of insight, she's among their better writers, IMO. There, does that sound like defending her?

As for PF itself, I've read some good stuff there. Didn't "Dr. Sardonicus" used to publish there? (Sorry, I've forgotten his real name.) Good writer. I enjoyed his stuff. They've also done some interesting stuff on computer-based audio (some of it by Theresa). Then again, they've had writers you could send pretty much anything--a cheap chip-amp; a used piece of chewing gum--and he or she (OK, he) would proclaim it the greatest audio component ever, a new one every few months.

Speaking as only an occasional reader (I did once read it regularly)--with, of course, no insight into their editorial philosophy beyond what's expressed on the site--they are--the goal seems to be to lubricate the market a bit--to say nice things about components and encourage credulity in their readers. They acknowledge the participation of people with commercial interests, so you can't say they didn't tell you so. You know what you're getting. I have no reason to think they don't live up to their own clearly-stated principles. That's all good.

It's their model (apparently) and they're open about it--it's right there at the top of the screen.

Not my cup of tea, but if it works for you, fine.

Jim
