regarding the fact that, if you can't hear a difference, don't pay for it!I'm actually finding that the major limiting factors in my system's resolution are: my strange listening room (a loft) and noise from the refrigerator and the heater for the house.
Hence, I make most of my important audio decisions in the spring and fall, when neither the heater nor the AC is on!
On that point, I'll never forget an awkward moment for me when I told my choir director that I was an audio nut, and he replied that he knew one guy who was so crazy that he turned off his refrigerator when he was listening. It was at this point that I started shuffling my feet and murmering, "well, ah, actually... the sound is, ah, better if, ah, the frig is, umm, off..."
