P.S., I don't think I have been guilty of this on a regular basis, the only exception I can think of in my career was the Plinius 8150, which I compared to separates costing twice as much, and that was not at Stereophile. What I usually end up doing is falling in love with something quite pricey, and then telling people, yes, there are cheaper soluions, but this is a "buy it once, buy it right, get off the merry-go-round (SM)" product.
