Not quite.

Expensive audio cables are designed (to use the word loosely) to work in compact domestic audio playback systems, with mismatched impedances, uncontrolled resonances, and possibly a high background of RF noise.

I'm not defending the prices of exotic cables, just pointing out that your analogy fails on technical grounds.
