Yet another rave review for cables that fit Trump's budget made me wonder........

No doubt you've noticed how so many cable reviews mention how much "deeper" into the music the wire allows one to get. Buy wire XYZ and hear nuances in Cannonball's sound you never heard before. XYZ allows you to hear and feel detail, hall ambience, and overall gestalt/cohesiveness/continuousness you were heretofore unable to hear on the recordings you own.........provided of course that your system is up to the level of the wire.

How did all that good stuff get on the recordings made in the 50's, 60's, 70's (or earlier) that many of us consider great? No hyper expensive wires were used for the Miles/Gil recordings. Top of the line Nordost didn't exist when Wilma Cozart was producing all those great sounding Mercury's, nor did any other modern day wire company's big buck wire.

How'd Kenneth Wilkenson manage to get all that "detail" on his recordings without mega-buck wire? Ditto for Lewis Layton. Ever listen to the Gerry Mulligan big band LP's? Great sound - no thousand buck per meter wire.

How is it that the "detail, nuance, gestalt, continuousness, neutrality" that so many wire companies claim their super expensive cable allows us to "finally" hear got on the recording in the first place?

I suppose one could ask the same questions about electronics, at least those employed by recording and mastering studios when Layton, Wilkenson etc. were around. Most of us take it for granted that huge improvements have been made. Dunno.
