thanks for confirmation.actually i only started to discover this problem when i removed shunyata power snakes powercords and line conditioners from my system. further observations of mine and other people's systems indicated that the less tweaked a system/component, the more revealing this problem would be.
here's a suggestion:
before playing any disc, shut down the player (with no disc inside) to erase its toc memory.
power up again, wait for the display to show "no disc"
insert the disc you want to play, close the tray with the open/close button on the front panel. do not press play button to close the tray. and also do not use remote control to close the tray. infrared control codes do induce some discruption to the player's power supply, which degrades sound quality.
i assume your player will not automatically commence play when disc is inserted. that is good if it is. really bad when it is not(like some esoteric players).
let the player display the toc information on the lcd panel first. when the player is finally settled, then proceed to cue up the desired track.
if you desire to commence from track 1, instead of pressing play button straight away, try pressing skip forward button to go to track 1 and then immediately press play button. the later method somehow avoid toc information from being memorized. using this method, you can proceed to enjoy relatively fatigue free sound from the player from start to finish. of course there would be some sonic inconsistencies at the beginning of each tracks(due to preceeding track's toc being memorized already) but it may be livable if you adopt a more detached way of listening. at any time, do not use the remote control.
but if you desire to commence from track 2 or higher number, try pressing skip forward button consecretively (without any pause in finger action) to go to desired track and then immediately press play button. any pause in finger action would let toc information to be memorized. you may have direct numerical keys on the remote, but do not use it, because infrared control codes discrupt power supplies. also using direct access keys allow toc information to be memorized, which again degrade sound quality.
there's a couple of discs which i have in my collection in which all the songs are presented as a single track. using the above method to erase toc memory first, i can hear "perfect" playback from beginning till end, after skip forward and play procedure. but such discs are a rarity. Look for the highlights of the phantom of the opera and prince's lovesexy.
