Re: digital players have toc memory problem

I have noticed this phenomenon for years, though I was not aware of what caused it. Loading the disk and playing for a few seconds, and then opening the tray and reloading the disk always caused a change in perceived sound, usually an improvement (less bright and a little more weight in the low end). Sometimes restarting a track after playing it for a few seconds will result in a change of sound as well. I find this fairly consistent, and other people including a sound engineer friend of my with great ears all hear the difference. My VSE modified DVP9000 does this as well, though it is less noticeable after the clock PS upgrade. Though I know I can get some improvement by following this little ritual, I usually just put the disk in, let it play, and just let the music flow.
