In the real world, there are no "Laws of Physics." These scientific explanations are pretty darn good explanations, or models, of reality of life on earth. Outside of this planet, their viability may or may not hold true. For example, science has a pretty good model/explanation of how human beings see. However, - we cannot fully know how we see, - we just have this close (scientific model explanation) approximation.
The fact remains that many of our artistic, high-end audio gear, designers, use and adapt learned techniques and principles of electrical engineering toward an artistic end; and some even, design as they go, - not even knowing where they'll end up with their finished product. An idea first drawn out on a paper napkin, then adjusted once they're "INTO" the project. Later, maps/schematics are drawn, to duplicate the work. Consider the electrical equipment's enclosure alone, - always simply a cold, practical enclosure? Is it only to provide protection? Or, does it have to provide some change, or enhancement to the sound of those components? Or, is it beautiful?
Lastly, if we only follow the trail of evidentiary measurements, then what are the accepted measurements? Are they total harmonic distortion? What types of measurements are the most important? Or, are they all equal? And, if we all magically come to some sort of consensus about a certain set of measurements, and a certain set of measuring techniques that we use as standards, does that mean that those manufacturers who don't make the cut, must stop building equipment?
I think at the end of the day, if someone who narrowly claims that we must follow some sort of undefined and vague opinion and belief in some sort of obscure set of scientific measurements and procedures; they will end up asserting that certain manufacturers will either be making "mistakes" in their designs, or accused of being poor designers.
