now that you mention it

with my old Martin Logan CLS IIZs the panels sounded bad out of the box. I brought themback and we did a side by side comaprison with the floor models. huge difference. I thought my panels were defective. I was told they need to break in. I was skeptical. Took them home and ran them for a week solid with a CD on auto repeat. I brought them back to the dealer for a side by side. They were pretty much indistinguishable from the same floor model.

But....why didn't Martin Logan document this?

I think what makes the whole thing look dodgy is the idea that everything breaks in/burns in and that it always makes the sound better.
