Check out this review by Jim . It even uses one of my favorite analogies to audiophilia - "The Princess and the Pea". Here's a quote from it:
"But weeks of comparative, level-matched listening through a decent system revealed only very subtle differences—so subtle that it took me weeks to gain any confidence that they were real."
Jim was actually lambasted here for being a "tin ear" because of that review. He was also the guy who wrote the Chips For Chumps article, which caused a huge ruckus.
Of course there's lots of audio fiction writers, but Jim is not one of them.
