Re: You left out one detail

"Slamming audiophiles is becoming such a natural response that you forget that you respond that way."

On the contrary, after the show in Piscataway last week, I was reminded what dopes most of them are. It was a refresher course that not a single one I ran into brought even one of their own recordings to try out on all this ultra expensive ultra high end equipment. And as for the people demonstrating it (I wouldn't want to leave them out) they are no better than the people who came to gawk. One of them told me he goes to all kinds of concerts, He went to a rock concert and 4 days later he took his kid to see Swan Lake. I was too polite to ask him if his ears had stopped ringing by the time he got to the ballet. Then there was the guy who didn't know how loud a piano should be played when it's in the same room with you. I wonder if he ever actually heard one up close or touched one. Audiophiles are obsessed with comparing one piece of equipment with another but never seem to give a fig about comparing any of them to actual music.

Do I show contempt for run of the mill audiophiles? Just look at what they spend their money on and how highly they regard it...and so much money too.
