Re: Measurements are objective -------- Reviews are just industry cheerleading (Cheerleaders are not Critics)

Richard,

With posts like this one, no wonder you aren't sleeping well! ;-)

Seriously, of course you're free to say what you wish, but it's transparently disingenuous to criticize Stereophile by name in a post that makes a distinction between measurements and "cheerleaders." Surely Stereophile deserves a pass for publishing both subjective reviews (call 'em what you want to) AND meaurements? If you haven't already, take a look at this month's Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Grand review--and the measurements. I mean, isn't it worth something that this magazine is willing to label a component's measured performance "disappointing"--and to put it up directly beside a very positive subjective review? Stereophile really does give you both, which is much better, in my view, than giving you only one or the other.

Meaning no disrespect here, but it would be nice to see a little acknowledgment of something done right from a frequent Stereophile critic. Can you give the mag at least a little credit?

Thanks
Jim
