Re: Measurements and Listening

I've seen a friend design an excellent 2 way D'Appolito speaker compleetely on a computer, before listening, in a work day, both box design and crossover. The speaker was at least 95% done before listening and way more than good enough to stop at that point. He did spend a few more days to try to fix a few small anomolies to gild the lily. But even this work was done on the computer. This is a speaker designed with measurements. Now he is an experienced designer and certainly this was a factor in knowing what to look for on the computer design. But this doesn't change the basics. There often(not always) are meaningful measurements available to a designer. If they are ignored by a designer that understands them, then the designer has chosen to color the design.
