Is it too much to ask

that readers perhaps smarten up a bit. I'm not sure how a reviewer could catagorize a speaker as average or better or best . The best that can be done is to measure ( specifically loudspeakers here ) and let the critic give a subjective evaluation as to how the speaker sounds in his/her system. Then ,given your own subjective needs ( extended bass-wide dispersion etc. ) and a trial listen in your own system, YOU MAKE THE CHOICE.
For example, the Vienna Acoutics Beethoven Grand in the latest Sterophile has somewhat diappointing measurements according to JA. But this is exactly the type of sound that I like and would buy so this is a GOOD speaker for ME. I'm amazed that some people want critics to tell them what is good. Given enough information, that is our job.
