It's easier to throw stones and claim superiority while never putting your skills to the test. He has built the perfect speaker apparently (or the best one that the planet earth has ever known) so the simple thing to do would be to enter it into a speaker "sound off." If it is truly good -- I don't mind -- one thing I have learned about engineers -- is that some of the most arrogant ones really do have the stuff to back it up -- and I'd be firt in line.I think Soundmind has a number of sound points and I wish to heaven he would stop wasting his time on this forum railing against the industry and use those maths to fix it. A major complaint he has is the decay of popularity of classical music -- part of that is the sound systems that do not present it even remotely in it's glory.
He has shown me that he has a lot of understanding of the industry and the designs and a genuine desire for "better sound" and personally I think a manufacturer should offer him a job.
The best thing a company SHOULD have is not some lacky yes man but a guy who may actually bring something to the table. I'm sure he'd be less hostile in person as most people are in person.
The problem he has not mentioned is the nature of the industry is not about sharing ideas -- car companies are much fewer and much bigger. Speaker companies are splintered small and hoard their information from the competitors. There is nothing going on at GM that Honda does know about.
What I would like to see is an audio company that controls the entire audible chain (partly because the company soundmind loathes but I like) is partially there -- but truly it woul be one design team that records the albums, makes every single part of the stereo and also sells you the room it is going to play in right down to the coffee table you MUST buy in order to get the optimal results. Seems that if you want the symphony then one design team must have total control over the reproduction chain.
Oh hell just buy some symphony tickets and a pair of nice headphones.
