Compatibility

Few manufacturers provide much of an indication about partnering compatibility, unless to a component that they also make. Yet another reason for the usefulness of measurements. A review is subjective and system/room dependent...on it's own how can it be trusted to work in your room/system?

A speaker that was voiced using higher impedance electronics (eg. tubes) may end up being overdamped by a powerful ss amplifier. That's the best explanation I can think of for the Bryston's behavior in your system. In my experience Bryston produces great bass with most loudspeakers.

My recommendation is pay attention to measurements and talk to other audiophiles...see what system combinations they use. It should help avoid some of the bad ones. Start with a speaker you like and build the electronics around it. Speakers provide 90% of the sound character you hear in your system. I know this is old fashioned but it is still true.
