Perhaps I misunderstood...

I may have read too much into your statement but it seemed to imply that a decrease in sensitivity at higher frequencies would allow a microphone to have a more natural-sounding response.

I was merely pointing out that a downward sloping response of a microphone, within the audible range, is the generally the opposite of reality. In fact, that wouldn't be good at all. The rise in sensitivity through the presence region and beyond (again, within the audible range) is an important and purposefully designed characteristic of most microphones.

If you meant something else, my apologies.
