Re: Nope just decent substantive evidence

"how strained and congested a loudspeaker gets when trying to reproduce the live dynamics of real instruments.

I guess that's all that will satisfy you."

What can I say? you confidently assert that KlausR loudspeakers cannot produce the dynamic range of a single trumpet, I ask why, and you all give in response, A live trumpet played fortissimo at close range can be painfully loud , so?

As for "how strained and congested", that will depend on the loudspeaker in question.

"The point, which you have managed to be oblivious to, is that the very best of systems cannot do live dynamics with anything like realism"

I am not oblivious to it and I simply disagree with you, I have attended enough live acoustic performances to reach the conclusion that smaller musical ensembles can be successfully recreated at home with all the dynamics of live music provided those dynamics were captured on the recording in the first place. Certain instruments push the envelope, but the trumpet is not one of them.

"My response, translated for the live-music impaired, was: doesn't matter. We're not anything like close yet."

urm, we've are already there, it just requires a paradigm shift on your part.

"The rest of us, listening anecdotally, will still strive for better"

well, good luck with your search.
