Hi John:
Well, let me say that just because Im a Harbeth nut doesnt mean that I want every issue of Stereophile or TAS to mention them. Not at all. And I know their presentation is not for everybody. And to be honest, because of the resonating cabinets, they probably take more care to set up.
I would say you show very good taste, where other writers insist on mentioning the same basket of products in every write up.
Personally, the test for me is Listening Fatigue. Its very real. Ive gotten it from some very, very highly regarded speakers. Ive been surprised that very modest speakers have NOT provided that unpleasant after effect.
The funny thing the word "dated" can be taken badly, but I dont see it that way. Isnt vinyl a "dated" sound...how long has Audio Research, CJ, McIntosh, and Spendor been in business? They certainly still make some throwback products, as well as cutting edge stuff...an ARC DAC?..who woulda thunk it!!!
