introducing the name of a specific sound engineer, bob ludwig, into this discussion was a red herring, diverting posters from the central issue raised: on what basis can a reader determine the monetary and non monetary value of a luxury commodity? clearly there are numerous sub-questions, but, let's start with just one.
a related thought - and one that helped me to make sense of the numerous postings is that words have meaning; yes this is obvious. readers understandings of the words used by the reviewer and posters poster are not agreed upon: there is no common semantic agreement
when posters disagree on the how to determine "value" as well as the meaning of words, then we are 'off at the races': another vituperative and/or arch series of postings/threads, wherein there is no movement forward to resolve either the initial or subsequent posters questions/statements
