No doubt your zeal is greatly explained by virtue of your early approach to the hobby, by your 'lemming' period. That said I find it terribly presumptuous to assume that 'most' newcomers to the hobby are afflicted with 'lemmingness' (sic, no small doubt). Then again it would not be unusual for someone new to the hobby to experiment with different equipment to get a handle on what works (for them), there is no substitute for direct experience after all. Thus we could hardly fault such hobbyists for selecting well recognized brands with good resale potential, now could we?

Of course that's not say that there aren't current 'lemmings' out there that wouldn't benefit from your example, from Don's profound insights and worldliness (my computer mouse for some reason just committed hara-kiri), but based on principle that "the good of the many outweigh the good of the few", couldn't the poor 'lemmings' just be left with alone so as to spare the rest of us the evangalical zealous foolishness?; after all, who's to say the 'lemmings' are suffering anyway, perhaps their suffering is of the retroactive variety, i.e. they might not even be aware of it until they obtain the 'reformed' or 'saved' state.
