Discuss a review. Provide constructive feedback. Talk to the industry.

The sad irony

is that the intended context of reviews is largely lost by most folks. Reviews should be used as guideposts for purchases, not the final arbiter. Each of us has different listening priorities, musical tastes, and budgets.

At the expense of dropping names, I've had the most good fortune to have known both Harry Pearson and fellow Atlantan Dr. John Cooledge for thirty years and regularly hear both their systems. Since I met John when I was 18 and Harry when I was 20, their mentoring has indeed greatly shaped my perception of audio and expanded my musical knowledge.

Having said that, my musical tastes and listening priorities are different from both of them and my equipment choices reflect that. I'm probably closer to JWC's than HP's. I wouldn't necessarily go out and buy a component simply on the basis of a positive review from either, especially with speakers. Such would be, however, on a short list for consideration. :)
