It's not only my view - all one has to do is read the disclaimer on the Stereophile Recommended Components list and their review policy to know that the magazine is not about bringing the audiophile the best system for the money. It's a clearly and obviously a marketing vehicle for manufacturers who chose to market their equipment through this venue. It so obvious that the magazine's approach to equipment is all about promoting the manufacturers product that it's absolutely baffling to consider that the magazine (and any of the current majors as well) has any credibility amongst audiophiles at all.
I don't hold a grudge against manufacturers who benefit from Stereophiles success nor do I hold a grudge against those who work for the magazine - everyones got to make a living. But if someone thinks that having most dealers shelves stocked with magazine recommended components is a good thing for two channel audio they're only fooling themselves.
If the magazine reviews it (and its fixed to almost always be a good review) then the readers want it. Pure and simple.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
