And not only that -- they're both highly respeected companies. Interestingly, the Audio Note DAC that the Steven Rochlin likes -- well that company has taken so many attacks on this forum and even by people who have yet to hear a single product they make. I don't think they particularly care either -- because you either like it or you don't -- and some people will create a bias toward it before they ever hear it anyway.There are MANY things out there that I think are totally unmusical devices and even worse Unlistenable to my ear. A few speakers for instance that get awards in Britain and Stereophile class B ratings etc and to me it's just rubbish...the review isn't going to change my mind. Conversely I have heard speakers at 1/3 the price that I'd buy in a second (using *shudder* paper woofers and foam surrounds) -- and no major review publication has touched them.
Like movies -- if it needs all the hype in the world to get people to see it it probably isn't any good. And Leafing through the speaker makers who advertise in every issue of virtually every magazine -- for the most part I stand by the comment.
