... because as usual it seems Stereophile staff care nothing about performance.
You guys just don't get it. Or worse, you get how absurd your strategies are and yet you proceed anyway. Why?
Nobody in their right mind gives a frick about the technical aspects of a mediocre technology or format that is impossible to come even close to the performance levels of "experiencing the birth of a new world." And if the technology / format is a fraud / hoax, they care even less about its technical aspects.
To the best of my knowledge there can only be one reason for Stereophile to continue to ignore MQA's highly questionable audio performance.
For anybody who cares about performance and questions MQA's performance merits, they already realize that Atkinson has potentially greatly compromised Stereophile's integrity and credibility for the outlandish endorsement he gave MQA several years ago and now the chickens are coming home to roost.
If Stereophile should now declare once again anything like experiencing the birth of a new world, word will spread and their credibility as being able to discern what they hear (a reviewer's primary reason for existing) will be potentially unrecoverable.
Or should Stereophile declare a more accurate statement like MQA offers little or nothing performance-wise, then Atkinson's goose is cooked as one who either understands little to nothing about real performance - or he had ulterior motives for the outlandish and nonsensical endorsement he gave MQA previously.
In other words, for Stereophile to at this juncture to offer any position on MQA's performance, they potentially demonstrate that Stereophile has little / no credibility from a performance perspective and the only question remaining then would be, how long has this crap been going on?
But if Stereophile can at least get a reasonable percentage of followers wrapped around MQA's technical axle for a while and ignore MQA's all-important performance aspect, that at least buys them time.
Anyway, that's my guess for the red herring.
