RE: So depending on how the recording was mastered..

As VinylHeathen points out, the answer is "no".

Unless MQA has been "cheating", the only way their process could possibly change the sound is by using a digital filter. Products have had user-selectable digital filters for decades, but I've never heard them referred to as either "revolutionary" nor the "birth of a new world".

Although it could help explain why different audiences might have different reactions to the (definitely not earth-shattering and seldom for the better, in my experience) audible changes imparted by MQA.

The pros don't want their work changed at all, especially not by either Bob Stuart (in a "white glove" process) or in an automated process.
