That makes sense since cars are turned over many times. I was chatting, last year, with a district rep for Whirlpool (Kitchen Aid, Jenn Aire etc). He stated the appliance companies are now pushing "color" surface appliances (grey, white, red, etc) hard. People are purchasing all this stainless steel and they hang on 2 to 3 times longer longer. Colors are more trendy and go out of fashion quicker, thus people are more likely to buy again sooner. After he said that, I noticed all the colors in appliance ads.
Probably the same reasoning with the strong push for integrated amps. All in one with dac, streaming, etc. Once technology changes, you need a whole new box.
