Both Rick W. and Shovel1973 are *both* right.
The example of the white readership of Ebony magazine mirroring the black readership of Stereophile perfectly illustrates a problem in the hi-fi industry. Just look at any TV ad for almost any product, and you will see minorities prominently represented - perhaps even over-represented if one is being literally mathematical about the situation. So Rick is right about this.
At the same time, Shovel1973 is equally correct that "Victimism and divisiveness keep a very few people rich, and far too many people perpetually and unnecessarily angry.". In my experience this is completely true and Shovel is right about that.
Dale misses the mark a bit in my opinion when he says there "is big $$$" in victimism. It's not so easy to make a lot of money promoting victimism and divisiveness. About the only people that do are the minions of the ultra-rich, such as TV newscasters. Rachel Maddow make $30 million per year, as does Chris Hayes (both on the so-called "left"), just as Sean Hannity and (until recently) Bill O'Reilly do (both on the so-called "right").
NB: "Left" and "right" are simply labels promoted by the super-wealthy elite to also to promote divisiveness among the masses. The super-wealthy elite are no different in that regard from the old monarchs/emperors of the past many thousands of years - they literally believe they deserve their wealth and power because they are somehow (usually genetically or family or tribally) superior to others. The exact same thing running through Cleopatra and the ancient Egyptian emperors as through Caesar and the ancient Roman emperors as the Monarch that ruled the West through both the "dark" and "middle" ages to the present day British royalty and Rockefellers and Gateses and Bezoses and hundreds of other ultra-rich families. (About 400 families in the world control over 99% of the total world's wealth.)
