RE: " an ongoing narrative here "

That narrative developed due to the fact that some in the audiophile press inexplicably remain mute when confronted with questions surrounding the software. On top of that, it appears to some that the software developer used the audiophile press' praise of the software to market to equipment manufacturers, content providers and audiophiles with the audiophile press wittingly or unwittingly reduced to a branch of their marketing dept.
