"I don't know or care about the ethnicity of any of their reviewers. I only care about their writing."
Really, you guys are so amazingly oblivious that you don't know that way past an overwhelming majority of the reviewers in the hifi publications whose writing you read are white and male? You're completely unaware that r&b/Latin/hip-hop and even the latest and most popular rock music receives damn near zero mention in the reviews you read and is VERY rarely (if ever) played at show demos? See a lotta reviews using what's now the most popular music genre to evaluate hifi gear (see link). You think it doesn't make sense to have a black writer write about hip-hop/r&b and a Latin writer write about salsa and some female writers whose existence might attract females readers? Guess its just a strange coincidence that AA has so many female inmates that you could probably count 'em on one hand. Oh, I forgot. Lack of interest in hifi is inherent in the genes of women and minorities and there's nothing to be done about it.
Yeah, I guess the music rapped about in mags like S'phile may reflect the tastes of most of their current readership. But if nothing changes when the older white guys who're into hifi mags/e-zines now die off so will those publications, and hifi companies that don't adopt changes in marketing will too. WTF do you think young or older blacks/Latins and young whites are listening to in 2017, Starker's Bach cello suites, Led Zeppelin, Kind Of Blue and the latest Atkinson recording?
You're proud of being so far past thinking about race/ethnicity that you're "color blind", and of course gender never enters your mind. Wow, I'll send you a gold star to put on your forehead. Meantime, the blatantly obvious reality is that the music listened to by minorities and even young whites is mostly unmentioned in hifi publications and there are hardly any women/minorities writing about that music in those publications, and anybody who has the audacity to mention this reality is a radical lefty who *isn't* color blind like you magnificent examples of enlightened 21st century mankind and is basically a reverse racist trying to extend affirmative action into the hif biz.
Brilliant.
