That's sad

And certainly stupid of the salesman. What a sale to lose to ignorance!

I have no first hand knowledge, but I'm sure similar things happened with my first favorite hobby, motorcycling. Women Harley riders were scarce 40+ years ago, but I did know a few (and know lots more now). I'm betting there was a lot of "Why don't you bring your old man in, and we'll talk" from salesmen back then, but of course it's pure speculation on my part.

In the end, money almost always triumphs over stupidity, and those like your ignorant salesman, wither and die.
