RE: Man, its 2017. How many black reviewers does S'phile have? How about other hifi mags/e-zines?

My OP wasn't implying discrimination. Its about what seems to be a lack of effort to have hifi mags more inclusive and stimulate interest in decent and better playback systems among segments of the population other than old white guys. So far most replies imply that blacks, other minorities and women just aren't interested in hifi and that's why there aren't more of them in the ranks of reviewers, and also explains the lack of much music that appeals to young blacks/Latinos or even young whites mentioned in reviews or used in hifi demos at shows.

Before Arthur Ashe and the Williams sisters there wasn't much interest in tennis among blacks - ditto for Tiger and golf. When I was a kid NBA teams were overwhelmingly white and had few black fans. Think Danica Patrick didn't increase interest in Nascar? Do you disagree that in general - excepting things like drugs for ailing geezers - most advertising is geared towards a young demographic and the use of women and minorities in print and tv ads has greatly increased in the last, say, three decades? That's not just about rectifying discrimination, its about making money.

If my livelihood depended on sales of hifi gear (which is true for the mags as well as hifi manufacturers) I wouldn't be satisfied with just appealing to Asian audiophiles and old white guys and claiming nobody else is interested. I'd be *proactive* and make an effort to attract a bigger and more varied customer base.
