The point of your original post had nothing to do with attracting minorities....

IMHO, it is not the job of the mags to attract anyone into the hobby, Be they minorities, the young, women or those with physical and mental challenges. And I can't see how you can criticize them for being a reflection of what, IMHO, their readership is.

Attracting folks into the hobby is the job of the manufacturers, who have clearly decided that catering to the 1% is a better bet. Headphone manufacturers excepted. And perhaps it should also be the work of audiophiles of a more evangelical bent. Though a hobby where many spend their time alone, in darkness, probably does not lend itself to the type of evangelical activity that would swell the ranks of the converted.

But do mark your calendar we are certainly in agreement on the importance, and gravity, of rap music, and it's lasting impact on our culture. Embracing it is one of the activities that will help to move the hobby forward.
