RE: Question for all industry Insiders

Great questions, all. I wish I had a crystal ball to answer them for you.

The only thing I can point out is the fallacy in your questions. For example, it is only logical to question the efficacy of (say) power cords, as that is just one short link in a chain that both goes forward into the power switch, fuse/circuit-breaker, internal wiring and also back through your receptacle, house wiring, service entry panel, local step-down transformer, sub-station with more transformers, and finally high-tension lines back to the generating station. Yet most of us have heard differences between different power cords and even the "super" fuses.

There is far more that we don't understand about sound reproduction and the ear/brain than there is that we do know.

I think the first step is for people to get used to the sound of loudspeakers that don't hopelessly color the sound due to diaphragm resonances. Then I think we will see much more agreement as to which electronics and sources sound "good". We've been living with this problem for so long that we don't really notice it anymore. And often putting a more transparent transducer in the system results in a "worse" sound, as it clearly reveals the problems with the electronics - often being blamed as the cause for the "bad" sound, rather than revealing it.
