Thanks for the post. Even though this episode happened just earlier this year, I had never heard of it. The first link I found was to Wikipedia, where it states "According to Wired, Google's internal forums showed "plenty of support" for Damore, who said he received private thanks from employees who were afraid to come forward."
It doesn't take a genius to see that men and women tend to have different anatomies as well as different interests. Books have even been written about the different thought processes used by each, such as "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus".
Obviously men tend to be more interested in audio as a hobby than women, just as women tend to be more interested in crochet as a hobby than men. These are facts, and I find it absurd to consider it "politically incorrect" to mention them.
In college I chose to study physics, as it seemed to be the field best suited to understand the "Why?" questions. The other alternative was philosophy, but I had already studied that enough to realize that was something of a dead-end, particularly in terms of a career.
Apologies for being dense or misunderstanding. Like all humans I have blind spots, some of them very large.
