Home Critic's Corner

Discuss a review. Provide constructive feedback. Talk to the industry.

eh?

Charles,
I am not sure what your point is. Your aversion to op-amps was previously noted as was your disgust that a piece of equipment containing one could get a good review. So now your are trawling through old posts to find where JA has criticized equipment containing op-amps in the past to show Stereophile as hypocritical? Seems a bit desperate.

You keep calling op-amps "cheap". They are cheap for the same reason that Ayre gear is expensive - manufacturing is automated and the high volumes allow the cost of R&D to be spread thinly across each. I am sure you know this so are you being disingenuous or just shilling for expensive gear?

I've always thought that posting on AA as a manufacturer must be difficult:
1. You shouldn't promote your own gear. I am sure there are rules about this.
2. If I really knew the ultimate secret for great sounding audio I might be reluctant to let it slip.
3. Conversely, if I really didn't know what I was talking about I would be worried about that becoming apparent (though the Dunning-Kruger effect means this wouldn't be an issue)
4. You shouldn't criticize the rest of the industry. Don't know about rules for that, but it is bad form.

IMHO you've been doing a lot of #4. So I offer a challenge, uplift AA and give us #2 instead. Show us how it should be done and not how it shouldn't. And better yet, how in could be done the masses.
