Once again, it's all about performance. And the huge performance gains The Absolute Sound and Stereophile editors claimed to experience with MQA.
MQA didn't just materialize on its own. It obviously needed much help to gain a foothold in the industry.
And now a few years later people are discovering that MQA offers no such performance gains WHATSOEVER and it was just a ploy for the music industry to simplify inventories and equipment while establishing absolute control over distribution of recorded music.
Imagine buying a new Ferrari model XYZ based on Ferrari and Motor Trend magazines endorements that the XYZ is by far the greatest performing street-driven sports car ever to come off any assembly line...., only to find that it's performance levels are no better than a Toyota Camry.
That's what's going on here, IMO. And if that's true, then people who care about performance in this supposedly "high-end" sector of the playback industry, have every right in the world to be emotional and outraged.
