Thanks for the details of your testing. It would seem that the marketplace agrees with you. About the only company left making "phase coherent" loudspeakers is Vandersteen. While they are no doubt excellent sounding loudspeakers, it seems that there are also plenty of other brands that people like well enough to buy that are definitely *not* "phase coherent".
On the other hand, it may just be a case of ear-training. Since 99.9% of all loudspeakers ever made are not "phase coherent", it is certainly possible that we have been trained to accept that particular coloration and therefore don't readily recognize the improvement it may yield. However that seems a bit of a stretch to me. Typically when I hear a distinct improvement in sound reproduction, my personal reaction is more like "Wow - that's it! That is the sound I always knew was possible but had never heard before."
Of course this is all just speculative, as each person's hearing sensitivity varies as does their preference for the importance of specific parameters.
