As an astute and an original owner of the player in question (since shortly after it was released), I heeded the warning that Charles mentioned above and purchased a backup mechanism years ago directly from Pioneer. At that time, Ayre made it clear that there was no way they could supply backups for every player that they ever built. It is a testament to Ayre's philosophy that they had a disc player in production as long as the C-5xe and improved it (the MP enhancement) rather than releasing a new "improved" product every year or two like many other manufacturers.
I have never had any issues with my Ayre source, but it is reassuring to know that I have a backup mechanism just in case. I also have other Ayre equipment and their support is world-class. For whatever it is worth, I would also love to have a "Twenty" successor!
