No problem

The world is apparently full of guys who are happy to threaten with lawsuits. Even when there is no merit, it can be a large waste of one's time, resources, and money to defend oneself.

Life is short and it's good to choose one's battles wisely. If the Bored needs to shut down a thread for any reason (or no reason at all), that's fine by me:

1) It's their place and they are simply letting us use it. They have no obligation whatsoever to the inmates, just as your local newspaper is not required to print every single letter to the editor.

2) We have no way of knowing what is going on "behind the curtain". It turns out that running a public forum carries *potential* legal risks far beyond what I think is reasonable. See the link below for example. It pretty much goes without saying that most laws have been written by lawyers, who have an obvious self-interest in making the needs of their services more and more important. For example if all documents were written in plain English (instead of "legalese"), one wouldn't need to consult an attorney before signing.

But the way it stands now in the US, just about anybody can sue just about anybody else for almost anything. By design. I say just relax and listen to some music and try to ignore things that are of no interest.
