RE: Understanding Stereophile's Top 500

The A+ category for several types of component e.g also digital processors, has existed for a number of years.

As far as I am aware neither the Continuum Caliburn nor the Rockport Sirius are currently made nor have they been for some years. Please note that the reviews in the 500 best components are usually a precis of the original review(s) and thus may contain references to other products which were available at the time and are no longer. There is one small difference with "super" turntables in that they are usually reviewed by Michael Fremer who owns a Continuum and continues to use it as his reference. Most Stereophile readers will be well aware of this.

When components are no longer available they are removed and there is usually a note to that effect at the end of the category review. However this refers only to components that were included in the previous listing. This has to be the case as if all reviewed but removed components over all time were included then the list would be as long as the entire issue:-)
